The "Love" theme

The "Love" theme for my exhibition came to my mind when i saw the painting I gifted my Dad for Father's Day. I asked my Dad if I could display it in the exhibition and further expand the theme and put in some flowers and moments that I had captured in my camera. It included some pictures that I took on my honeymoon in Goa as well as other places I visited with hubby and had loads of memories attached to it.

I included a painting of the inside of a rose which is a spectacular pic taken by a friend.. So I borrowed it...

Tulips being my favorite flower and "they" being the flower that adorns our home whenever it is our anniversary, birthday, valentines or for that matter any special/non special occasion, so "they" had to be included..

So, here are my paintings for the "love" theme..

Exhibition : Travel

As mentioned in my previous post, the exhibition was a complete surprise for me. Moreover, I had nothing to display, I was on a " VACATION " and was not carrying any piece of work with me. So, before saying "yes" to such a big opportunity I had to sort some things out.. and the most important of them all was..

What to display??

Believe me, i thought of turning it down as I had no idea how to go about it.. but i thought to sleep on it .. The next day I started brainstorming and came up with 3 themes. Well, 2 at first, Love and Travel, and we'll talk about the third theme later..

Now the second question in mind was:

Will I be able to make them in oil in time??

The answer to that was "NO".I had to think rationally.. Oil paintings are to be done with patience and time, not that the others don't have to.. but it takes time to dry.. that's a fact!! There was so much excitement and nervousness, I neither had patience nor the time..

So.. What should I do?? i thought to myself I had been experimenting with watercolors for a long time now and this was my chance to give it a go..

I picked up my Ipad and my phone and started sorting out photographs from my several visits around California that have been lying around waiting to be painted.. I picked them up and compiled a folder named
" Travel" .

But i still wanted to add "Oil" as a mediium into the theme. So I shortlisted 2 photographs that I thought would be more lively presented in oils and started working on my canvas..

This is how the "Travel" theme came into being..

Here are the paintings I did:

Waterfall in the woods
Oil on canvas
20" x 24"

Cruising Along California
Watercolor
9" x 13"

Morro Bay
Watercolor
9"x 13"

Snow Peaks
Watercolors
9" x 13"

Breathtaking Tahoe
Watercolors
9" x 13"

Washing the shores
Watercolors
9" x 13"

Rocky Sunset
Oil on canvas

My first SOLO Exhibition..

My surprise trip to India gave me the biggest surprise.. an oppurtunity to display my talent.. my first ever SOLO exhibition.. and I am all excited about it..
As I had little time on hand I could create just 19 peices which included 3 different themes...

Love
Travel
Silhouettes

The peices include water colors and oil paintings.. with a touch of acrylic paints in it.

I am really thankful for this oppurtunity given to me by Ms. Neepa Sharma and a big thanks to my husband and my whole family for being by my side this whole time and encouraging me to move forward with my dreams. Love you all...
